Monday 17th August - walk *** – Pipers Vale to the Orwell Bridge –
mainly cloudy and warm.
Shock horror we woke this morning to puddles in the road and an inch of
water in our butt, probably the first measurable rain for a couple of
months! I had a quick drive along Felixstowe seafront to take a few puddle
reflections to send to the TV weather, even got a bit of sun which then
disappeared for the most and the day was cloudy but still warm with no more
rain!
With a couple of days breeze from tomorrow I was keen to get out for a walk
somewhere, so after doing my exercises in the back garden I packed a picnic
and we headed to Ipswich. My plan was to park by the waterfront but we
couldn’t find a spot so we headed back up Landseer Road to the Pipers
Vale entrance to the Orwell Country Park and walked down a nice lane to the
bench that overlooks the Orwell Bridge where we enjoyed our lunch. The tide
was in, there were a few yachts out despite the light breeze, the swans
were there and I saw loads of fish, you can’t believe the number of
lorry’s using the bridge making it pretty noisy! We then continued to the
bridge where we walked under it before returning up the hill back to the
van.
